A little more than three weeks have passed since Apple’s latest tech, the Airpods Pro, was released for purchase. The new Airpods come equipped with outside noise-cancelling technology and a 24 hours-of-charging battery life for the charging case. The new pair is assuredly the new fad, but obtaining one comes at a surprising $250. Are they really worth the elevated price?
The short answer is “it depends.” It depends on the financial status of the consumer. If you are a person who does not have to sweat about $250, then these are definitely worth purchasing. If you are a person living paycheck to paycheck, then I suggest waiting until you receive gift cards (like myself) or wait until they come on sale.

The quality of the product, however, is unquestionable. The performance of the noise-cancelling mode was shocking. Looking to block out the noise from your mom talking on the cell phone while you are trying to do homework? Boom, her voice is gone, and the music you play adds the cherry on top.
All of these new features are now at your fingertips in a quite literal sense. Instead of tapping the Airpods to pause, skip, or rewind music, there is a new pressing feature on the force sensor located on the “stem” of the Airpods, which works exactly like the bar connected to the wired earbuds. In order to enable and disable noise cancelling, all that is needed is to hold the button for about three seconds.
The extended charger battery life can come in handy, especially for long road trips, school days, and plane rides. Depending on how much the Airpods Pro are used, you can go over two days without charging your Airpods and still have the ability to listen to music. As someone who uses his airpods an estimated 3-5 hours a day, I can go most of the week without charging the case.
In the end, I’m happy with the new Airpods Pro, but for someone else who already has an earlier Airpods model, I would recommend finding a way to avoid the steep price of the latest new device. Black Friday anyone?
