Upon the first day of Mashpee Middle High School, I entered Mr. Looney's room not knowing what to expect from Marketing and Entrepreneurship Honors. This was a class that was notorious for varying from year to year, both in curriculum and popularity. However, the second I was acquainted with Mr. Looney and the intimate crew that stood before me I knew I was in the midst of something great.
For the first time in school history, the Marketing class was taking on the lofty task of opening the school store, appropriately dubbed the “Falcons Nest.” This was a job that had been attempted but not mastered by various organizations before us. However, this time around, our mindset was different. Rather than simply accumulating funds, there were greater goals in mind.

Mr. Looney sat down with the marketing and entrepreneurship class that muggy September morning and made it very clear that our goal was to increase the sense of community rather than just making a profit. Mr. Looney preached the ideals of small town unity saying, “You would be surprised how powerful a ragtag bunch like ourselves can be in a small community like Mashpee.”
Through the sale of hats, scarves, jackets, sweatshirts, pajamas, t-shirts, Christmas ornaments, coffee mugs, and a variety of other merchandise, Mr. Looney and our entire marketing squad hope to generate a newfound appreciation for Mashpee and the amazing community it is and has been.
As a Junior at Mashpee High School who has lived here for practically my entire life, I can say with complete certainty that there is nowhere else I would have wanted to dig my roots. As part of the team I hope to spread this love and appreciation all across my hometown. With enough support and hard work we just may be able to pull off something truly amazing as we attempt to enrich the district that has been so kind to its patrons.
Whether it is through the purchase of an affordable t-shirt at one of two locations, both onsite at the school and at the annex store in the Mashpee Commons, any support from the local community is appreciated. Our ultimate goal is to continue to grow and spread the sense of love, community, and togetherness throughout the already tight knit town that is Mashpee, Massachusetts.
