Q: Where did you grow up and what was it like living there?
A: I started out in Worcester, which is about two hours from here, but grew up mostly in Leicester. It's about twenty-minutes from Worcester. It is a small town, pretty much the size of Mashpee. I went from second grade until high school there.
Q: Where did you attend college?
A: I went to my undergrad at Anna Maria College which is in Paxton, outside of Worcester. I went to Cambridge College for my Masters, Framingham State for instructional technology, and now I am at Curry College for administration.
Q: Did you play any sports in high school or college? If so, which ones?
A: I was a cheerleader in high school and I did some running too.

Q: What attracted you to live and raise a family on Cape Cod? Why Mashpee?
A: We lived in Worcester and it was a pretty busy area and we just wanted to get into a different place to raise our kids. A woman was on a panel with my husband when he worked for the state. She heard that he was looking for a job. She met with him the following week and said ‘I have a house in Mashpee that you can stay in, a condo.’ We didn’t know where Mashpee was. We’ve never been here. We found out on a Thursday, sold our house on a Monday, and we moved here less than thirty days later and stayed.
Q: Was there a reason you decided to leave being a sixth grade teacher at the Quashnet School and come to the middle and high schools?
A: Well I had to follow the tenth graders! But, yes there was a reason. I was using a lot of technology in class and Mr. Hyde, who was our superintendent at the time reached out to me and his words were ‘I see you for a bigger picture.’ He asked me if I would be willing to pilot a program for the sixth grade teachers using iPads and doing all of the arrangements for the professional development. We did all of the training with all of the teachers, got them ready, got you guys using them in class, and then I took the position part time. So it was really Mr. Hyde.
Q: Four years ago, did you see yourself with the title you have now?
A: Yes. Mr. Hyde and I talked about changing the roll from teaching and I was originally going to do the position right off the bat, but we only had iPads in sixth grade. So the plan originally was I would teach part time to all of the seventh graders and do the job I’m doing part time to really work with sixth grade teachers and other teachers. We would have iPads in the middle school and that you guys would all know how to use them. What happened was different - we got chromebooks and I took the job full time.
Q: Would you ever go back to teaching? Why or why not?
A: Yes and no. Yes because I love the connection with the students. That I think is the most important piece and I do miss it. No because I love what I’m doing. It just works.
Q: Outside of school, what are your favorite things to do?
A: I run, I do yoga, spend time with friends and family, and I read.
