The Ronald R. Bock Mashpee Chapter of the National Honor Society has selected Ms. Purdy for the “Teacher of the Year Award”.
In an interview with the Falconer, Ms. Purdy said, “It’s a tremendous honor, and I am very proud of the students that I teach. I feel the reason I am getting honored is the because of the collaboration between our amazing staff, supportive colleagues and exceptional students that I’m very proud of.”
There will be a plaque in the building dedicated to her.
The students nominate and select teachers based upon scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
“I love what I do. I love working with students everyday. It’s been an enjoyable career on many levels, so being recognized as 'Teacher of the Year' is something that I am certainly happy about,” Ms. Purdy said.
The award was presented to Ms. Purdy on Thursday night at the annual induction ceremony for new members of the honor society.

As you have come to realize, numbers like GPA, Class Rank, the dollar sign at the end of an accounting sheet – hardly tell the whole story and they certainly don’t measure the story of your heart and the impact you make on the lives of others through service, being positive role models and simply caring and being kind.
"Good evening honorees, families, staff, faculty and community members. Congratulations to all the new inductees and current members of the Mashpee Ronald R. Bock Chapter of the National Honor Society.
It is with deep humility and gratitude that I express a heart-felt thank you for recognizing the contributions of teachers every year. It is only through the collaborative efforts of family members, my amazing colleagues, a supportive leadership team, and exceptional students like each of you that we keep moving forward more resiliently, with renewed strength and a common goal of harnessing hope for positive change every day. Each of you remain committed to the important tasks at hand in and out of the classroom. I know that I stand here representing every teacher who has worked tirelessly throughout the health crisis to help all students achieve academically, and to grow stronger in those vital life skills of productive citizenship, advocacy and strong character.
There has never been a more pressing need for you to keep reaching out and finding ways to advocate in all environments. Our school may be small in size but we pack a big punch in service to others.
On this special evening, we acknowledge that being a good citizen can also have a far reaching impact in the smallest of arenas, like the classroom, playing field, hallway, lunchroom and in our neighborhoods.
We observe students helping their peers and members of our community in so many ways and that has played out immensely the past couple of years.
You are here this evening because of your commitment to fulfill not only the important task of getting good grades but also strengthening all vital traits of character, and finding creative ways to address and meet the needs of others near and far.

Congratulations again on your remarkable achievement this evening and thank you once again for this recognition."
