With finals coming up Wednesday, students will feel the final stage of stress before summer. All across the country students will be rushing to prepare for the most stressful week of the school year. Students all have different ways of coping the stress and preparing for finals. Below in this article will be the thoughts of a few Mashpee High students about the stress of finals and what they do to prepare.
Since the week is approaching rapidly, we decided to get some students input on finals and what they were going to do to prepare for it. Some students are extremely stressed out the thought of finals, and some students couldn’t care less. Teresa Hachey, sophomore, stated, “I’m going to spend a lot of my weekend studying, but the two days we have before, Monday and Tuesday, are the days where I will really focus in and do my best to cover everything we’ve done this year.” She also stated, “I’m not too stressed about finals as I feel like I have a good grip on all of the information we’ve learned this year.”
Students will have different ways of coping with the stress that they compile from thinking about finals. Some students will exercise, some students will play their favorite sport, while others will just try to have fun somewhere else like the beach.
Another sophomore, Erin Mackie, said, “I will probably go to the beach this weekend after I start to study for finals on Saturday to relieve my stress and take my mind off of things.” This will be a popular way of relieving stress because it will be a nice weekend and will easily take people’s mind off school with the sounds of the waves and the little kids running around having fun.
There are also different ways of studying that students will be doing until June 13th comes along. Some students will do group studying at the public library, and others will just be in their own room grinding it out by themselves. Kevin Webb stated, “I will probably go to the 99 or something like that and study for my history final over the weekend with some of my classmates.” This will probably be a common way of studying for most kids as studying as a group is a good way to share information and study together. As the school year wraps up, this will be the only thing on kids minds as summer approaches and they get their final grades for the year.
Finals is a stressful week for everyone. There are many ways the stress can be continued and many ways to prepare.
