An award-winning Latin music group will be visiting Mashpee Middle High School for two days next week.
A 12-piece Latin group from New York, Alex Torres and His Latin Orchestra, will be at the school on Thursday, June 9 and Friday, June 10. The group is multicultural, with people from all ethnic backgrounds.
On the first day, they will work with our student musicians, and on the second day, June 10, they will perform concerts for students in all grades, with a variety of music styles. If you miss them, they will be at Mashpee Commons, performing Friday, June 10th at 6:30pm!

“The audience definitely gets into the performance,” said Mr. Rumberger, head of the World Languages Department, who helped organize the visit.
The show will be an hour and a half long. The group will introduce instruments, play songs for the audience, work with student musicians, and be joined by the music group on stage.
This will be for cultural education for students, done in a fun and memorable way, Mr. Rumberger said. It also teaches students about origins of this type of music, including Africa, America, Europe, and Spain. It describes how it all comes together and creates entirely new and innovative types of music.
