The show is based off of the 1989 film of the same name and is about a young feisty mermaid who wishes to find love above the sea in the human world. She gives up her voice and goes through many other challenges in order to pursue that love.
Like any Disney movie, the plot of The Little Mermaid is well known amongst the kids but director Patricia Farrell says “the difference between seeing an animated film and live theatre, there’s no comparison.”
Mrs. Farrell says people who come out to see the show “will see an wonderful show… the costumes are really unique, very colorful… there are some set pieces that are pretty cool.” But besides coming out to experience the magic of theater, Farrell points out that “it is nice for the actors to have the support of their peers… We love theater but we have to have an audience.” The main cast features students such as Anna Josselyn (Ariel), Patrick Flynn (Prince Eric), Celia Krefter (Ursula), and even Culinary teacher, Will Stoloski, as King Triton.
