MMHS teachers deserved an A+ as they beat Mashpee students 40 to 22 in Michael Barrows Student versus Staff basketball game.
At the beginning of the game it seemed as if it would be a close game, but quickly after the teachers took control of the game the students fell into an offensive funk. Ms. McCuish and Ms. Alves dominated defense getting many steals. They were then able to dish it off to offensive threats Mr. Leader and school resource officer Calhoun. It became apparent that the MHS students weren't going to be able to hang with the teachers as they extended their lead by nearly twenty points by the end of the game.
Senior basketball captain Michael Barrows decided that hosting a student versus staff basketball game would highlight the importance of sports promoting community. Michael said, “I think sports are very important to students and having the students play teachers would bring the community together.” All the funds collected were donated to the Mashpee Family Fund which acts as a financial aid to Mashpee families.
