The Mashpee varsity girls lacrosse team triumphed over the Rockland Bulldogs, with a score of 15 to 9. The game was close in score until the Lady Falcons stretched the lead at the end leaving Rockland with a loss.
Mashpee’s victory was aided by the strong offense scoring a total of 15 goals. Standouts junior Tara Palermo and senior Katelyn Proverb, scoring five goals each, were essential in Mashpee’s victory. Senior Chayna Hendricks scored two goals and junior Chyla Hendricks scored three goals.

Cassidy O’Hara, the senior captain, had an outstanding game in the net, having 14 saves and dominating the defensive end of the field. Defensemen Brooke Bridges, Lauren Lavigne, and Grace Shinn also made many plays, stopping multiple Rockland breakaways. Defense was strong throughout the game but stepped up their tempo in the second half, stopping the Bulldogs on offense and allowing Mashpee’s offense to expand the lead.
Mashpee started off strong as Proverb scored a goal within the first 15 seconds of the game. The first half was a back-and-forth game. When Mashpee scored, Rockland answered. Mashpee’s defense was strong but many penalties lead to multiple goals for the Bulldogs. At the half the score of the game was 7-5 with Mashpee winning, but the Bulldogs were battling back.
Junior Tara Palermo set the tempo of the game with assists and aggressive play that gave the Falcons many scoring opportunities. Katelyn Proverb had a phenomenal game working the Rockland defense and finishing on many of her shots.
