In 2013 the Boston Celtics made a trade with the Brooklyn Nets giving the Celtics the Nets’ first round pick in 2014, 2016, 2018, and the ability to swap picks in 2017.
Last year the Nets had the 3rd worst record in the NBA going 21-61 giving the Celtics the 3rd pick in the 2016 draft. The Celtics selected Jaylen Brown who has done very well this season.
In the 2016-17 NBA season the Nets had a record of 20-60 which was the worst in the NBA. This lead to the Celtics getting the top pick in a 2017 draft that has been called one of the most talented draft class in NBA history. The draft takes place in June.

The projected top 3 picks are Markelle Fultz (WA), Lonzo Ball (UCLA), and Josh Jackson (Kansas). All there are very strong skilled players in all areas, which gives the Celtics a hard decision to make. Markelle Fultz and Lonzo Ball are widely considered the more talented of the three but are both point guards and the Celtics have a promising young talent at the point guard spot in Isaiah Thomas.
MHS sophomore Noah Telles said, “Josh Jackson is the best fit because at 6´8¨ 210 pounds he would fit well in the 3 spot where the Celtics often lack offense.”
Many think that the Celtics should select one of the talented point guards and get talent over fit. Sophomore Brett Pells said, ¨Even though Jackson is the best fit, Markelle Fultz´s talent is far too big to pass up¨.
Sam Antis said, ¨The Celtics should trade the pick for an established player such as Jimmy Butler or Paul George.¨
Whatever the decision is that the Celtics make one thing is for sure, the 2017-18 season should be one for the books.
