Senior year is about to be over, which means summer is approaching and for many of us, freshmen year of college is right around the corner. Some seniors are headed to different states and starting their own life and learning how to take care of themselves. Others are just leaving the Cape Cod and going off to upstate Massachusetts. And others are staying and going to CCCC and others are just finding a job around here and taking a gap year.

And others are staying and going to CCCC and others are just finding a job around here and taking a gap year.
One of the students at Mashpee, Sierra Costa said she's very excited to be leaving the Cape but also very nervous to be on her own up in Boston. She’s been on the Cape her entire life and she’s going to start her freshman here this coming fall at Suffolk University.
And I asked another senior from Mashpee High, Ciara Oakley-Robbins about how she's feeling about leaving the Cape Cod. She said, “It's going to be new and exciting but I am very shy and nervous about meeting new people and seeing how I will click with them. I will definitely miss my friends and family that makes me hesitate about going far. At first I wanted to go to North Carolina but now I decided to go to Maine and be closer to home in case I want to come home.”
And for myself and a couple of other friends are going to CCCC, (Cape Cod Community College) for our first year to save some money and still be around Cape Cod working and still being around our family. As I was just speaking to a student and they were telling me that they are staying because the first year of college you can really do it anywhere. Going to a community college for some people it's embarrassing but really we’re saving so much money for the first year, and we’ll be basically be doing the same thing as the other schools in academics, and we’ll be a lot closer to our families and being around a place that we’re used to.
Even though we’re all very excited to be leaving high school we will always bring that with us. I mean it was four years of our life, making mistakes and learning how to correct them and being part of at least one drama scandal. We will always remember high school, for good memories or even bad.
