Unsure of your path after high school? There’s two paths you can choose to go down during your senior year to help you decide. Path One: Senior Seminar. Path Two: School-To-Career (STC). Which is better? That’s for you to decide, but here are some opinions of current seniors to aid in your decision.
Miranda Davis, a senior taking STC, stands by her decision of taking STC after
going through the course. Exploring multiple options, being unsure of what she wanted to pursue, Miranda looked into engineering as well as event planning for her possible careers. After talking to her recently, she has a new-found interest in marketing or teaching. “It gives the opportunity to explore the career path I’m thinking of pursuing,” Miranda said of STC.
Another student, Amanda Soroka, says that her decision in taking STC helped her realize that she wants to stick with her path she plans to pursue after high school. Her goal, as before, is to pursue nursing as her profession upon graduating high school.
Senior Seminar provided students with skills such as presenting and resume-making, a student said. Emily Hoover, one of the students interviewed for this story, mentioned that while in this class, she gained the knowledge on how to “promote herself.” She feels it is a good skill to have in the business world that will aid in your success.
Going into this class at the beginning of the year, Emily said that her goal was to become an interior designer. Becoming aware that this was not the path she wanted to take, she changed her focus to business, wanting to own her own company and possibly becoming a makeup artist for weddings and other important events.
Which path do you think is the best choice for you? Do you think one would be more beneficial than the other? It’s up to you to decide.
