By Shivani Patel Arts Night was held on December 13 at Mashpee Middle/High School. Many artists came to present their artwork in the cafeteria from 6 PM to 8 PM. Arts Night is the opportunity for students to show their creative side to the community. There were murals, photography, pottery, poetry, and many other types of abstract work to display various forms of art. Food and drinks were offered to the guests along with music to set the mood. | |
Every section of the cafeteria held something that was different. Along the walls were photographs of locations that meant something to the students who made them and paintings depicting different climates and landscapes. Other students had displayed their drawing skills along the walls of the cafeteria. Many paintings showed a common theme of peace, love, and harmony. The showcases on the backside of the cafeteria held creative pottery of different fish and gingerbread houses. Some of the smaller cases held more paintings of nature and plants. The poetry and other writing pieces were shown hanging towards the front.
Everyone who attended the night got the chance to take a stroll around the cafeteria and observe each creation. “We like the fact that this school offers an art program because this allows children to show their creativity,” said parents who attended Arts Night. Many people also shared interest in the pottery section as well as the music that was playing in the background by the High School Jazz Band, Strings Ensemble, and Chorus. Guests excitedly expressed, “Every year gets better and better and we can’t wait to come back!”
